@EnglishGibson A certain kind of German is probably familiar with the Latin phrase (I've noticed there are a few phrases that are 'understood' in Germany, but generally translated in English) e.g. pluralis majestatis

Why has it taken almost two decades of living in Germany to be exposed to the phrase “innocent till proven guilty”?
