@campbellclaret Have you checked out the recommendations from the Commission on Political Power? (Rory technically a member) Baroness d'Souza et al putting forward Senate suggestion. Hard not to agree one benefit of an upper house is their scrutiny of legislation that can't be lost.

Whatever the abilities (in some cases lack of) of the new peers, this never ending cycle of appointments to the House of Lords for each side to try to rebalance is beyond a joke. We are a 21st century country with 19th century politics inbuilt into the system. The only reason a progressive minded person should take a peerage is to do all they can to get rid of the Lords. We need a total overhaul of our constitution, and the way politics is done. Politics is not working and won’t work again until we admit that the systems we complacently take for granted are among the reasons so many people feel alienated from the whole bloody thing.

If I could give work advice that is applicable to most people: Don't be an ideas person. Be someone who organises (people, resources, decisions, buy-in) and makes things happen. Ask how can I make that happen.

Oddly, this space looks exactly how I imagined in my head (sans the strange photoshopped people??). There's a lot to do for East London and Stratford communities to make them affordable, but it really has been a triumph to see East Bank develop like this and invest locally.

Hate the 'did a thing' trope, but I have. My vote is off to Ohio from London, more emotional than usual. And I can't quite believe I have a board mtg 6th Nov no idea what (mental) state I will be in! Having an infant hopefully will make lack of sleep easier #USElection2024

Looking forward to this... 'FBVs' were undermined by stemming from Prevent policy. A chance here to renew them with the focus they should have: a more democratic, equitable society, and clearer purpose to embed for educators. And, adding Respecting the Environment!

Teachers know this too, and see the breakdown of trust, values and social inclusion. As we continue in our mission to give more state school students access to inspiring, relevant active citizenship learning -- this point has never felt more important to combat these issues.

It's also why @YoungCitizensUK focuses on centring empowerment of young people, their voice and action alongside that knowledge. And, our work with those institutions. Who need to hear it. These young ppl will also be those future leaders - public sector, business, politics, etc

The amount the word "vibes" is now used in entirely serious conversations, meetings, analysis from serious people is nothing short of astonishing if you think about it.
