1/2 After unveiling their new Plan to Accelerate Coal Transitions last week, the Powering @PastCoal Alliance welcomed new members today: the Republic of Korea, Bahrain and Guatemala.

There was a hugely important announcement today at COP30: South Korea joined the Powering Past Coal Alliance, and in doing so, announced it will not build any new coal plants and will shut down 40 existing plants by 2040. As the country with the 7th largest coal fleet, this is a significant signal to the rest of the world.
