I had a really busy clinic today and as usual I estimate that >80% of people I saw did NOT have the classic clear or consistent signs or symptoms that we get taught to assess for to make a diagnosis Instead many had unusual pain descriptions, locations, aggs and eases, with inconsistent patterns and behaviours! And in my 20+ years of experience working in MSK this is common and normal yet it is rarely spoken about let alone taught how to deal with! And we wonder why uncertainty is so poorly managed and tolerated in healthcare and why over diagnosis and treatment is rife!
