@JulianAyres1 It is much harder for students today with all the extra pressure of cost, loan repayments and having to earn a living at the same time. My feeling is education has not really adapted to the world we live in now. Pressure on students seems much higher now.

I would say that 99% of my tutorials with students today have been about reassuring them they’re doing great. Not sure I could have done my degree whilst balancing the amount many of them do and huge kudos to them. #education

@JulianAyres1 (Bit of a curveball) Is it important? Should the focus be on retention, or is there an intervention that can be looked at earlier? Can lack of retention (failure) also be seen as a success? Is the whole course needed to succeed?

Why is retention so important for the future of Higher Education? Anyone able to point me in the direction of some good pieces of up to date research?
