Can’t emphasize this enough! So many people have the combination of high mcats/gpa but lacking that extra ‘spark’ that impresses admissions committees

Thinking your high scores and GPAs entitles you to a spot in medical school is probably why you “barely” made it in. Beyond a certain threshold no one “deserves” to go to med school more than the next. So much more matters in an applicant. Many “smart” ppl show antisocial traits.

I hate these graphs because they aren’t accurate at all. I know family docs pulling plastics money and an ortho doc pulling more doing free standing Locums. There’s so much nuance AND docs under reporting in these numbers.

The facts are is the tweets are racist and have nothing to do with feelings Why are they signaling out FMG’s from one country? The real discussion should be about the fact that FMGs play a critical role in providing much needed medical care in this country particularly in rural and underserved areas

I once did a med school rotation in rural medicine. Truly a clinic in Illinois cornfields. No EMR, and in fact no computers at all. I dictated notes into a tape recorder and it was typed up by the secretary on a typewriter. The Doc was an IMG who had been there forever.

Thank you, residency program, for this implicit bias training 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼honestly, should be in every job training and even yearly training in schools (high schools, colleges, etc.)

Imagine being a physician who has taken the Hippocratic Oath—to do no harm, act in patients’ best interest, ensure justice, respect every person, and uphold integrity Then you go on social media and spew racist rhetoric toward newly matched medical students who will soon be your colleagues. That behavior violates every one of those principles.

Here’s an internal medicine program in Massachusetts putting India first. 25 of 26 of residents are from foreign countries. 22 of 25 are from India. India has a severe physician shortage - why are they sending their talent to America?

Here’s an internal medicine residency program in Texas where all 13 residents are foreigners. Six of the thirteen are from Pakistan.
