@c3convertase You probably know this but that says way more about them than it does about you!
English

@drgonzo123 I dunno, keeping eyeballs away from ads seems to be a pretty genius approach for a social media company...
English

@NeuroAlx And in Australia we're hooked on ex-NHS doctors fleeing the NHS!
English

"NHS is hooked on foreign doctors"
Nice to feel appreciated by the government...

We need to update the way we recruit, retain and train staff to ensure the NHS is sustainable for the future. That’s why this week we will publish our historic Long Term Workforce Plan to set out plans to train, retain and reform the NHS workforce. 👇 thesun.co.uk/health/2280260…

@PeterSmedley1 I’m always so nervous about doing anything like that as I know the profession isn’t very kind towards doctors with mental health conditions, so I keep my precribing squeaky clean! (I wouldn’t even prescribe myself melatonin when I ran out, to the bemusement of the pharmacist!)

@dlarusch @itsginnydi I could be wrong but I heard somewhere that authors generally get no royalties from audio books, and that the audiobook publisher buys rights to the book to produce a recording? Happy to be corrected.
English

@itsginnydi Agreed, It is so nice to be able to listen/read when I get home from work. Turn one on getting ready for a shower, making dinner, etc. Plus knowing that it helps the authors as well is a plus as well. Like there are some books, I would like but not enough to actually buy it.
English

@liambarker From a medico-legal perspective surely the referral and the fact they respond to it meets the criteria for duty of care? They are taking huge risks (and potentially delaying patient care) by rejecting referrals for administrative reasons.
English

@BrossetteShane @fuzzymittens It's the Australian equivalent of anaesthesiology resident in the USA
English

@PeterSmedley1 @fuzzymittens Dr. Smottley: Does anesthetic registrar mean anesthesiologist?
English

@JKMcGUEE @fuzzymittens I can't remember any author names but shouldn't take me too long when I'm next at my desktop
English

@PeterSmedley1 @fuzzymittens I don't want to give you more work, unless there's an author/org you have off the top of your head I have my computer out now. I can try to find something with my old uni vpn
English

@JKMcGUEE @fuzzymittens It's also a very different perspective from doctors. Most of us have only read or heard about what you are going through. We will never truly understand what our patient is experiencing, it's entirely reasonable to seek out those with lived experience
English

@PeterSmedley1 @fuzzymittens But I'll admit that sometimes it's just nice to hear from people dealing with the same shit on reddit. Finding I'm not the only one dealing with symptoms I tried to discuss with my doctor makes me feel less isolated. At min gives me a starting point for asking my doctor questions
English

@JKMcGUEE @fuzzymittens I'd add websites of professional bodies (eg specialist training colleges) to that list.
Point well made, and it's important we take feedback on this stuff from patients on board.
English

@PeterSmedley1 @fuzzymittens Yeah, I'm sure it's also hard to keep track of what you've said to who but I find it not ideal to get more intimation after rather than before.
Fwiw I do recognize there are a lot of "holistic wellness" fraudsters so I try to stick to gov & uni sites
English

@JKMcGUEE @fuzzymittens I'll do some digging this evening and link some stuff!
English

@JKMcGUEE @fuzzymittens Most of the stuff I've read hasn't so much looked at causes but outcomes; usually enrolling patients pre-labour and following outcomes, comparing the group who had an epidural to those who didn't. There are numerous potential causes, not including those I'm ignorant of 🤣
English

@JKMcGUEE @fuzzymittens It's hard but in my experience the vast majority of healthcare workers want to do what is right and just and best for their patients
English

@JKMcGUEE @fuzzymittens I think it's good to maintain an open mind but ask as many questions as you need to feel like you understand what is presented. Another suggestion I'd give would be to ask for links to reputable sites that explain any procedure and associated risks. Also, ask about alternatives.
English

@JKMcGUEE @fuzzymittens Agree 100%, vital part of informed consent.
English

@PeterSmedley1 @fuzzymittens Like, I don't want to discourage it because many people are helped by it, but it is something I've heard enough I'd want to look into it myself, which is difficult bc anecdotes aren't data but data don't cover all experiences either & can miss things
English

@JKMcGUEE @fuzzymittens Yeah it's been a debate for a long time. I can certainly see why you would blame the epi if you had chronic pain after having one, hence the research. I'm happy to dig up some papers if you like. And that being said they aren't without some risk, but that is true for everything!
English

@PeterSmedley1 @fuzzymittens I wish I could remember exactly what she said but it's been a while. I think it was a mistake with the placement, not the epidural itself? It gave me pause and made me want to look into it further should I ever become pregnant bc that wasn't the only person to deal with issues
