‘Smiths Studio', at the bottom of Pickering Market Place, above which Sydney and Maud Smith lived until they retired. The building on the left was Arnett's cake shop, later taken over by King & Ward. Smith's was demolished and rebuilt by Liptons, and is now @YorkshTrading

Nurse Lena Plowman.
She came to live and work in Pickering in 1941, and retired from nursing in 1975. She lived in Maudon Avenue. #NorthYorkshire #socialhistory

’Toyarama’ shop in Hungate (behind the people).
The shop was owned by G. Cooper & Son, and the cottage to the left was occupied by Miss Eva Huby, and her brother Robert (‘Bob’). The property was demolished to build what is now the Co-op Store. #pickering #localhistory
