@orchetrance My headcanon is that pokémons don't understand the concept of effective moves and resistances, and just use any random move they know, so that's why trainers are important.

I honestly kinda like the idea of Pokemon attacking and strategizing on their own in animation as opposed to a kid yelling out moves constantly. I don’t know why, just seems cooler to me. They’re intelligent creatures and not robots after all.
