For #WIPWednesday, we’re launching a new mini-series: Science of the Strange. Where real science meets the worlds we build. First up: Chromatic Aberration. 🌈 Light isn’t just one thing. It’s a spectrum. When it bends through air, glass, or alien atmospheres, each color travels differently. Red drifts one way, blue another, creating faint halos or color shifts known as chromatic aberration. On Earth, it’s lens flaw. But on Strange Planets, it’s part of the physics. From orbit, you’ll notice a soft color drift: true chromatic aberration. But on the surface, the spectrum splits even further, spreading red, green, and blue differently across every rock and shadow. This surface effect is inspired by real chromatic aberration, but reimagined through the planet’s unstable atmosphere and materials.
