@Jvhnaik @Dearme2_ That's like the most popular opinion.

Unpopular opinion: the greatest weapon against anxiety and depression isn't a pill — it's discipline. Not willpower. Discipline. Moving your body daily. Sleeping. Eating real food. Putting your phone down. Being around people who actually see you. None of it is easy. All of it works. The hard part? Doing it when you feel least like doing it. That's exactly when it matters most.

@BleacherNation Also don't really love this one. I just think that bets on defense into a guy's 30s are fundamentally risky.

@dwtreadwell73 @wischlist His velo and movement were normal. Unless there's something up with his feel for his secondaries, he's probably fine. The only thing I'm worried about is the 2/3s fastball usage.

@wischlist @PleaseTalkToMe1 So just overlook the several bad outings he had down the stretch last year, too? Or the fact that he's 35 and outside of 2/3 of last season was NEVER anything special? I hope I'm wrong but odds are this isn't gonna end well for Boyd.

@BleacherNation Honestly sorta surprised by that one. Opens up a lot at the deadline.

@dwtreadwell73 @wischlist It's one start. Batted ball numbers are notoriously volatile for pitchers. We learned this lesson 25 years ago and people still love ignoring it.

@maiamindel They could take an AKOTSK lesson and expand Bertie Carvel's role, though.

@NickJFaleris Is it? I feel like the discourse around the organization more broadly is that they have a secret sauce that makes them outperform their baseline projections, which suggest the front office has either a developmental or strategic team building edge.

It’s underappreciated how good the Brewers front office is.

@jakes21 @Michael_Cerami The raw stuff looked fine, though. Velo and movement are normal. Not really concerned about something physically being wrong.

@PleaseTalkToMe1 @Michael_Cerami Sure. And I also think facing a really bad lineup, coming off a year where you threw a ton of innings where you haven’t done that in forever probably puts the magnifying glass on it a little more. It’s fair to wonder how he’ll perform this season.

Matthew Boyd gave up a solo shot, but has four Ks through 2.0 innings. The Nats are being very aggressive.

@jakes21 @Michael_Cerami My point is that loud contact in a single start is often itself fluky. A bad location day or not having a feel for a particular pitch can have real impacts in one start but quickly correct.

@PleaseTalkToMe1 @Michael_Cerami If it was fluky where it was a couple dinkers a walk and a 3 Run bomb then whatever. It was consistent loud contact when they hit it.

@jakes21 @Michael_Cerami His stuff looked pretty normal. The only concern I have is that he was really fastball heavy. Is he just not feeling his changeup?

@jakes21 @Michael_Cerami It's really not. You can't derive much of anything from a start unless it's tied to raw physical ability. The only meaningful thing you're going to learn today is if Boyd's stuff is up or down.

@PleaseTalkToMe1 @Michael_Cerami I think it’s all meaningful and it’s all data points. I also realize that’s it’s the first of probably 25-30 starts. Boyd is coming off a huge inning load last year compared to what he’s done in any recent year. So there’s definitely things to watch.

@jakes21 @Michael_Cerami Of course it isn't ideal. I just don't understand commenting on it unless you believe it's meaningful.
