“Refs a Mormon” is funny and not bigotry in the slightlest and that’s coming from a big defender of my LDS friends and their faith.
It’s a massive overreaction because of bad actors at other schools

In accordance with the Big 12 Conference Principles and Standards of Sportsmanship, the Conference has issued Oklahoma State University a $50,000 fine following its investigation into inappropriate chants which referenced the Mormon religion that occurred during Wednesday’s men’s basketball game. The Big 12 Conference will not tolerate any behavior that targets or demeans others.

Even if they did say “Refs a Mormon” that’s not what people heard and they knew that’s not what people would hear. It would be like going to an airport and yelling “BUM!” and then acting surprised when TSA slams them to the ground.

Man. I've gotten to know a lot of BYU and Oklahoma State peeps over the past year. I love BOTH of your fan bases. But to my Oklahoma State pals, the F the Mormons chants can't be happening. If you know folks who are doing that- please try and get through to them! BYU and other Mormon folks i've met in person and online over the past year have been THE BEST man.
I know Oklahoma State people as a whole don't support this. But stuff like this has to be CALLED OUT and made public. Some will call people "too sensitive" but when your core beliefs are castigated everywhere you go... that has an impact!
