On April 18, 1983, a Hezbollah suicide bomber drove a car loaded with 2,000 pounds of explosives into the front of the US Embassy in Beirut, Lebanon. The blast destroyed nearly every floor of the building. 63 people were killed, including 17 Americans, 32 Lebanese embassy employees, and 14 visitors/passersby. The Americans killed included 8 CIA employees, 4 US military personnel, the deputy director of USAID, two of his aides, and an American journalist. US personnel entered Lebanon in 1982 as part of a Multinational Force to help reach a ceasefire in the war between Lebanon and Israel and to help the Lebanese government maintain stability in the midst of civil war. Tragically, this wasn't the only deadly attack on US personnel in Lebanon. On October 23, 1983, a Hezbollah suicide bomber drove a truck into the US Marine barracks in Beirut, killing 241 US service members. On September 20, 1984, Hezbollah terrorists drove a car bomb into the US embassy annex in East Beirut, killing 23. All three attacks are believed to have been carried out with Iranian support, direction, and funding. These Iran-sponsored attacks carried out by Hezbollah are more important than ever to remember while the US and Israel are working to free the Middle East from the threat of Iran's terror regime.

Wars are only ever resolved through negotiation. It’s tragic that calm heads did not prevail in the US when the Omani Foreign Minister said, just hours before the bombing started, that a peace deal was within reach. And now hotheads in Iran think it’s a good idea to bomb Oman.

The Israeli press is stressing a key difference between the June 2025 war and the present campaign: the United States and Israel are functioning as closely integrated allies from the outset. In June they operated separately and sequentially, like runners on a relay team. This time, the two have arrived at a division of labor in accordance with their respective advantages. The Israelis concentrate on their core strengths: locating and neutralizing rocket and missile launchers, eliminating high-value commanders, and dismantling operational networks in near-real time. Its advantage stems from the seamless integration of precise intelligence with swift strike options, resulting in a super tight intelligence-to-targeting loop. The Americans, by contrast, focus on strategic infrastructure targets. These include air defense systems, command-and-control structures, logistics networks, industrial facilities, and the regime’s underlying military framework. This approach entails large-scale, systematic degradation, leveraging American global reach, substantial firepower, and sustained operational capacity to undermine Iran’s broader military potential. Israel applies tactical pressure on the battlefield, thereby constraining Iran’s capacity to launch projectiles. Simultaneously, the United States diminishes the regime’s ability to replenish and sustain prolonged combat operations. I would not want to be on the receiving end of this unified strategic effort. I almost feel sorry for the followers of Khamenei.
