Today, I convened a meeting with the Board of the Urban Development Corporation (UDCORP), an entity under the Ministry of National Housing and Social Amenities, mandated to assist Local Authorities in planning and coordinating urban growth through the development of proper housing and related infrastructure. We reviewed the Corporation’s 2026 Strategic Plan and received updates on key projects currently underway. I am pleased to note that Knock Mallock Phase One in Norton has now attained its Compliance Certificate, enabling beneficiaries to commence construction on both residential and commercial stands. The development comprises approximately 600 serviced stands, ranging from 200sqm to 400sqm, marking an important step in the delivery of orderly and well-serviced urban settlements. As Government, we will continue to provide full support to UDCORP in driving forward sustainable, inclusive, and well-coordinated urban development across the country.

I am pleased to have presided over the signing of the 2026 Performance-Based Contracts at the Harare International Conference Centre this morning. Under the Second Republic, the days of 'business as usual' are behind us. These contracts are not just documents; they are a sacred pact between the Government and the people of Zimbabwe. By aligning our targets with NDS2 and our Vision 2030 goals, we are ensuring that every official, from Ministers to heads of parastatals, is held accountable for delivering tangible results.

Today, I officially launched the Zimbabwe National AI Strategy, a bold step towards a digitally robust and agile nation. The Strategy is anchored on four pillars: Talent and Capacity Development, Infrastructure Sovereignty, AI Adoption, and Ethical Governance. We are modernizing our education with STEM and coding while investing in cloud computing and high-performance centers to empower our research ecosystem. Our goal is a human-centric approach to technology that enhances precision agriculture, smart mining, healthcare diagnostics, and other critical areas.

Today in Jakarta, Indonesia, I had the honour of addressing the Ministerial Round Table at World Engineering Day for Sustainable Development 2026. @engineering_day My message was simple: engineering must move from discussion to delivery. For Zimbabwe, engineering is central to Vision 2030 , driving infrastructure modernization, industrial growth, and inclusive urban development in line with United Nations SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure). I highlighted our national target of delivering one million housing units by 2030, alongside modern transport systems, water and sanitation infrastructure, renewable energy integration, and climate-resilient communities. I also reaffirmed Zimbabwe’s readiness to host and support the Engineering Capacity Building for Africa Programme Centre of Excellence , a continental platform to strengthen engineering education, promote digital innovation, support climate-smart infrastructure, and develop the next generation of African engineers. Africa must not only consume innovation. Africa must co-create it. And most importantly , deliver it. 🇿🇼 Building smarter. Building sustainably. Building towards Vision 2030.
