@pussyluvrr69 A few years back you had people posting their rating curves saying theirs looked aesthetically pleasing
English

@QuadeTimesTwo letterboxd reviews can be a good laugh sometimes but i cannot fathom someone actually caring about the rating curve of a movie they enjoy. makes me think of pop music fans who stream music without listening just to get the numbers up lol
English

@MechaGoddess Films have been fandomized (the very concept of watching them, not just specific works) over the past decade & it is quite annoying but it doesn't bother me as much because games and games' criticism has been in a rut since like 2008 so it's just more aggravating
English

@QuadeTimesTwo I think letterboxd bothers me more than backloggd because films have recently been treated more like a “fandom” thing if this makes sense (I hate filmtwt) so while backloggd has shitty reviews letterboxd feels artificial and just some people’s social media
English

@MechaGoddess the more niche a work is the easier it is to find something to read up on is what I've noticed. I remember watching FLIC (Kobayashi) when it had less than 400 watches & there were a bunch of thoughtful reviews
English

@QuadeTimesTwo Letterboxd reviews are a waste of time lol it’s just people’s quick quip for quick likes on every big movie. I’m at least glad that a lot of movies I’ve enjoyed had actual meaningful reviews when I’ve checked but it’s like nobody actually has anything to say
English

@MechaGoddess Was talking about letterboxd too but yeah, video games especially tend to invoke very extreme responses from people, even those who wish stuff was better. People use these sites for the social aspects way too much
English

@QuadeTimesTwo This is why I never care too much when people complain abt backloggd reviews being trash. Yeah that’s true but why should I care, I’m here to track MY stuff and occasionally review my games for myself

when you finish cs2 and see the end credits but then HE shows up so you gotta lock in

@EvelynInaba In CS2 I actually cried at the Divertissement instead of the big thing right before it

@ankowaifu @MechaGoddess Yeah, I unfortunately have to interact with people who vibecode their websites & YGP's design is staggeringly close to asking an LLM to design a "modern" website. Although this could just be that web design has gotten very standardized over the past decade
English

@megalarper To be fair basing your judgment on DFW's writing via a pop philosophy page posting his stuff out of context is a very unfair. This is a short part of a long speech he gave at a college so ofc its remarkably more straightforward than his actual writing (which is very approachable)

I really wanna believe philosophy is more than basic observation coated in intellectual syntax, but anytime I see any quote online it makes hard to believe.
