What a great talk to kickstart the second half of Qualsafe First Aid Day at the Trauma Care Conference 2026. We've just heard from Qualsafe's Digital and e-Learning Designer, Tom Smalley-Gordon about all things e-Learning.

First aid matters! Simple steps can significantly improve outcomes: ✅ Keep warm ✅ Prevent shock ✅ Stop bleeding ✅ Administer oxygen (if trained to do so) A powerful reminder: every action counts in the critical minutes after injury

Key clinical risks include: •Pro-inflammatory response to trauma •Fat Embolism Syndrome •Infection (Pneumonia and Sepsis) •Thromboembolism •Compartment Syndrome (internal bleeding within limbs)

Qualsafe First Aid Day: Professor Sir Keith Porter Our next session covered Fatal Fractures – How First Aiders Can Improve Outcomes. We explored what happens to the body after a serious injury and how timely first aid can make a lifesaving difference.
