So the next time you are tempted to use an idiom to justify, or accept 'common wisdom' as truth, ask yourself:
Are you are foregoing the chance to enlarge and diversify your world view in favor of 'common wisdom'?
I think so.
We used to beat children systematically (Any scientist worth their salt knows children need love and nourishment to thrive) and died at age 36 because they had no conception of germs or hygiene.
Hindsight is 20/20, they say. Our children's children will think the same about us.
That’s why we have to change.
We have to lift others up as a community, as a society, and a nation if we are to adapt to the coming changes. If we are to truly live in a democracy and a society of equals.
Or because the child of an immigrant had to work on a field, picking the vegetables you buy at Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods, instead of learning about history and science in school?
How is this okay? It’s NOT, and it makes me want to throw up.
