Celebrating Water & Environment Week At RGF, we’re advancing clean energy and sustainable solutions in communities like Nakivale protecting natural resources while improving livelihoods and resilience. Climate action must be local, practical, and inclusive.

Clean energy is transforming daily life in Nakivale. Through integrated energy kits efficient cookstoves + solar lighting families are reducing firewood use, improving health, and increasing safety at home. A simple solution with real impact.

From awareness to action 🔥 RGF has supported 140 households in Nakivale with clean energy kits combining Tier 4 cookstoves, solar lighting, and efficient cooking solutions. Reducing firewood use, improving health, and strengthening climate resilience in communities.

Preparing communities for the shift to clean energy goes beyond equipment it requires awareness and confidence. Through the Flexible Mechanism Project, RGF is engaging households in Nakivale with demonstrations on clean cooking and solar solutions.

Energy poverty is a protection issue. UNHCR notes firewood collection exposes women & girls to safety risks. In Nakivale, 69% of households reported reduced fuel collection time after improved stoves. Energy access must be part of gender protection — not just infrastructure.

Household air pollution is a major but overlooked health risk. WHO links it to 3.2M premature deaths yearly. In Nakivale, improved stoves show impact: 53% less smoke, 92% no health issues reported. Clean cooking = preventive health infrastructure in fragile settings.

Clean cooking is also a forest governance issue. From the PDM under the Flexible Mechanism project, 73% of households reported reduced fuel use after adopting improved cookstoves. At scale, this reduces pressure on surrounding forests not just household costs.

Clean cooking in displacement settings isn’t a tech problem it’s an investment gap. Our Nakivale PDM shows: • 94% of households used the improved stove • 86% remain active users People are ready to transition. What’s missing is long-term financing beyond one-off aid.

Repair Africa Fort Portal: 436 people received free healthcare from 12 Buhinga Hospital doctors and 7 community doctors. Services included cancer screening, malaria treatment, family planning, sickle cell screening, check-ups, and pediatric care—strengthening community health.

The 5th edition of Repair Africa successfully took place in Fort Portal, a key milestone in building resilient, innovative and sustainable communities. from Kampala to Kasese and now Fort Portal.
