Yes, it's because of the property taxes that have been raising 30% every 3 years when people's homes are reassessed and 70% of that is going to schools. Property taxes need to be eliminated, and the tax to support schools needs to be added in the form of a sales tax so that everyone "pays their fair share".

You also probably woudn't care that there are a lot of seniors out there who bought their homes in the 70s and 80s and are now paying multiple times more in property taxes than they ever paid for their mortgate when they were making payments.
