Today is the start of early voting for the 2026 Texas primaries. Tell your candidates our Texas public schools should be measured by more than a single test on a single day. Last year the Texas legislature passed House Bill 8 to make changes and add extra tests to the state’s school accountability system. However, 80% of Texas schools still have their A-F ratings determined by a single high-stakes exam. This doesn't reflect the full range of skills our students need to succeed. A strong accountability system should look at multiple measures of student learning and growth - not just one test on one day.
