Honored to have the endorsement of @PPact! I’m proud to stand with those fighting to protect access to abortion care and defend the right for everyone to make their own decisions about their reproductive health care. In Congress, I will never back down from this fight. #TX33

Did you know all of Congress is out-of-town for the next two weeks? They don't return until April 13th. Two weeks. Our military is on the verge of invading Iran. The TSA funding crisis hasn't been fully resolved. The economy is a ticking bomb. There's widespread corruption ongoing, notably in the odd correlation between foreign policy developments and unusually high wagers placed on them through betting markets right before they occur. And the Republican-led Congress just... left town. To be clear, it was already scheduled long ago. And to be fair, it's not like most senators and reps are solely doing vacations. Most are doing in-state work. But this feels like a really bad time to leave town, and instead of Republican leadership saying "hey, we're gonna nix this state work period for obvious reasons," they just... took off. You may be thinking: "Charlotte, you're being a bit unfair. Everyone needs time off." Thing is... they've already gotten a lot of time off this year. They got a whole week off in January. And another whole week off in February. The House is taking most of April, including the last week not long after they get back from this break. And then another in May and another in June and another in July. The Senate is taking off two weeks in May and basically the first two weeks in July. Both the House and Senate are taking off nearly all of August. And again, to be fair, much of this time is spent by most lawmakers doing work in their states. Fine. But doesn't feel like a really, really bad time to take a break from D.C., especially given the breaks that have already been taken and the breaks right around the corner? There are thousands of American ground troops being staged in the Middle East right now. Why is this Republican-led Congress on Spring Break?

I JUST WANT TO REMIND EVERYONE THAT IRAN DID NOT HAVE ANY NUCLEAR WEAPONS AND THAT THE STRAIT OF HORMUZ WAS OPEN FOR BUSINESS BEFORE TRUMP STARTED THE EPSTEIN WAR 🤷

The HUB (Historically Underutilized Business) program was created over 30 years ago to give women & minorities a fair opportunity to bid on state contracts. The acting comptroller acted outside his authority to dismantle the HUB program (which only the #txlege or a court can do). That is why we are supporting business owners from across the state in their lawsuit against these illegal actions.

Charles Barkley risked getting fired on CBS last night, calling out Trump for attacking immigrants: “The way some of these immigrants are getting treated in our country right now is a travesty and a disgrace. What we’re doing to some of these amazing immigrants is really unfortunate and really sad.”

We’ve run out of superlatives to describe the March heat wave that has gripped the country. We look at how it stacks up to some other historically hot American months. We also talk about the impact on snowpack. And we’ll take a dive into Texas weather: open.substack.com/pub/theeyewall…

This is Poppy. She was focusing really hard on her agility course, and then she made it through the hoop and accidentally activated zoomie mode. There's no stopping her now. 13/10
