@u4x5o @jackhuynh @AMD Architecturally you are spot on. The CPU relies much less on system RAM. But AMD restricts SOC voltages to protect the stacked cache. Tuning memory on a voltage limited controller frequently causes silent errors. The cache lowers bandwidth needs but demands strict stability.

On AM5 you no longer need a strict 1:1 memory ratio. Pushing your FCLK as high as possible independent of your memory clock is how you maximize bandwidth. An unstable fabric clock can cause severe micro-stuttering, audio cracking, or silent WHEA errors.

Tightening your secondary memory timings is the absolute best way to drop latency, but it is also the fastest way to ruin a Windows install. Dial in your numbers and then immediately hit your rig with RamNuke to ensure those tight secondary timings are actually stable.

Great tip. An additional suggestion is that your Nitro TX Line will easily drop to 2 instead of 3 on the vast majority of systems for even lower overall latency. Just remember that tightening any memory setting can introduce silent errors. Run a fast stability test with RamNuke afterward to make sure your new frames are actually perfectly smooth.
