@PACleanwater if the citizens felt that way, then why would they be protesting ICE's actions? Clearly, there's more at play here. But if you're concerned about funds being diverted from benefiting citizens, why didn't you agree with me when I brought up the same point re: county spending?

ICE did not upset the cart - the combination of the Obama and Biden policies and the Sanctuary City policies helped to create this problem - The citizens are burdened more than twice already - how much money is being diverted from citizens to foreign nationals here illegally ?

@PACleanwater disagree -- they are doing exactly what is required: to not impede. you are asking that they go above and beyond that to actively support ICE's efforts, and it sounds like the county doesn't want to throw money away on that endeavor, which is their authority.

@RdSweeney Federal govt on immigration trumps states rights ! States can not impede. Depending a warrant when ICE may not need a warrant is impeding. Local agencies - Allowing riots and violent protestors to interfere is ICE operations is impeding.

@PACleanwater this is some tail-wagging-the-dog thinking... local officers would have to maintain law and order if ICE hadn't upset it in the first place... they are working at cross purposes, and the state and local taxpayers shouldn't be burdened twice: both to create and then quell unrest

ICE has to go to someone residence or work to pick up a foreign national - the public responses and creates a situation that makes ICE's job much more difficult - Local police need to respond to get between ICE and the public - to maintain order. This is not a jurisdictional issue - not asking any police to arrest foreign nationals, but just do their job.

@PACleanwater that's your current interpretation because it fits your preferences on this issue -- but it's not the only one... there are many other situations where you might prefer state or local law enforcement to assert jurisdiction, and you can't have it both ways. clarity is the best way

So lets step back - ICE issues a request to hold a person that is already in the custody of the police (What should be done - this request should be honored - simple. ICE finds out that a person of interest is going to appear in Court - ICE should be permitted to arrest this individual after the court proceedings - simple.

@PACleanwater ok, but that's immaterial to what the county can require its officers to need before they can get involved. Not sure how that changes ICE's role - they can still do whatever they already can do on their own. All this does is put reqs in place for when county agents can help them.

@RdSweeney Main problem - ICE Does not need a "valid and properly issued judicial warrant" the ordinance undermines existing laws and the role of ICE.
