CWG's Kevin Ambrose, @dcstormchaser, ventured to the Mall to take photos of the frozen scenes. "Walking on the Mall was challenging this morning because many of the sidewalks were covered by thick ice and snow," he wrote. "Everything was frozen solid without any signs of melting. The Reflecting Pool and Constitution Gardens Pond were frozen too. Many people walked on the Reflecting Pool and the pond at Constitution Gardens had many groups of people playing hockey games. In all my years of photographing D.C., I've never seen the city so completely frozen over with both ice and snow. " Several photos are provided here.
