Very saddened to learn that Bruce Froemming has passed. Legendary MLB umpire. Unforgettable personality. Perpetually affable, congenial and flat out hilarious. Automatic smiles and laughs with him is what I will remember and cherish. RIP

GOING OUT ON TOP Cheers to one of the best in the business. @KevinBoston25 was a great role model when we crossed paths at @Cornell. He's been one of the most well-respected meteorologists in the country for decades. Congratulations Kevin. Looking forward to the next chapter.

Kevin is a class-act, an excellent meteorologist and great person. He, @gilsimmons and I proudly grew up in the same part of NE CT. Kevin encouraged me as a young kid interested in weather and invited me to FOX 61 to meet him - thanks for helping me achieve my dream!

Lots of wind damage where I grew up in Eastern CT. @EversourceCT seemed to respond quickly and provided frequent updates, great to see the enhanced communications. My parent’s power was restored by a kind and excellent mutual aid crew from Indiana!
Eversource CT@EversourceCT

While crews are in the final push to restore our remaining customers impacted by the powerful storm, strong wind gusts throughout the day have caused some additional damage. Please be sure to report any new outages by calling us at 800-286-2000 or online: eversource.com/cg/customer/re…

@RealJonPorter Appreciate the input Jon! I tried to get at that with my wording (e.g., "most apps", "weather apps *can* miss" etc), but perhaps could have worded that better. And it's an understandable challenge - much easier for a team of experts than an algorithm to convey that risk!

One of a meteorologist’s biggest pet peeves is “my app says it’ll be ____”. Weather apps can miss so many details that a meteorologist will know. Let’s use tomorrow in NYC — my app says it’ll be 78 degrees but rainy. But is that the full story? Spoiler alert… no!

Sorry to hear of Dr. Doswell’s passing - he made many contributions to improving severe storm warnings and related science. Always remember he was on one of the first AMS panels I ever was on back in 2008 or so and was welcoming to me.
