This federal lawsuit builds on the legal challenge several other plaintiffs and I already filed in state court. I introduced the plaintiff to counsel and submitted my declaration in support of the case. This bill unlawfully moves our certified referendum on the 2025 transportation tax hikes from the November 2026 general election to the May primary—after over 250,000 signatures were gathered and verified in just 38 days. We contend this mid-process change violates Oregon’s Constitution, referendum protections, due process, and fair election principles. It disrespects the grassroots effort of thousands of Oregonians who deserve their full voice in November. This action defends the integrity of our democratic process.
