D and reinvest in myself (education/health), my business, Index funds, Roth IRA, high-yield dividend paying stocks, real estate, my family, my close friends, and my immediate community. In that order. Why? Stabilize yourself and your “house” first so you can focus on building up others. If you live in a glass house and try to build up those around you that live in paper houses before building yourself, when a rock gets flung your direction no one is able to help you and neither should you expect them to. Just because you help others you should not expect others to help you in return. You only help others when you expect absolutely nothing in return. Otherwise you put strain on that relationship and chains on your mentality.

This is a BIG problem in cyber right now due to the lack of true “entry-level” positions. They don’t exist. Post companies are looking to hire only “unicorns” to the closest “entry-level” positions that do exist in cyber like SOC Analyst I or Security Analyst I. They want a 4-year degree, CISSP (or equivalent), other certs, AND 3-5 experience in the lowest full-time cyber positions and then wonder why they can’t hire anyone. The closest to an entry-level position in cyber are “Jr-Soc Analyst” but almost all of those (which are rare themself) are part-time or internships only. There is no clear “path” to cyber. At least most of the Jr System Admin rolls are usually full time entry path to Sys Admin or many Desktop Support positions align close enough they can make that hop to Sys Admin. Even Network Admins (as long as you have the right certs and maybe a 2-year degree) will count from tech support (an entry-level) position. The best “hop” to cyber is from network or system admin (usually internally at a single company first) and hope you have your degree and certs lined up when a position opens.

Bro most companies are still struggling to grasp what to do about LLM’s/AI. Quantum isn’t even in the discussion at most small to medium companies. I doubt many outside of large corporations (Google) and government (NIST) are even planning anything with quantum. This will be them 👇

@ComputerWeekly Smart! It’s good to get ahead and understand it. Do’s and Don’t for security and how to ask or tweak prompts.

@NoLimitGains Seems like good advice. Anyone who can’t be flexible is just not smart. 🤷‍♂️

Bearish on the market, and still making money. Not complicated. Cash ready when things drop, trim when they run. This is just how people who know what they’re doing operate. Nothing new.

@cyber_razz When the router and the switch feel a spark in the patch panel, they connect with a quick RJ45 thrust… and nine months later, boom!…your LAN is born with a whole litter of baby packets! Just remember to use protection… like VLANs, or things get messy real quick. 🤣

@ChuckDBrooks This is why you shouldn’t jailbreak the same phone you use for daily life. And Banks need to implement integrity checks on camera mods (aka not the expected source) and encrypt the video stream.

@emeraald D) Bandwidth. Often confused with throughput, which is the actual data “processed” in a certain timeframe. “Width” is wide, “put” is placed. Easier to remember.

What it actually means: I do my job and write a lot os scripts. Desktop Support Technician II San Jacinto College •False positive impact:
I confirm a false positive with the vendor and other metrics and make exclusions sometimes as a result. •Patching:
I update software on client machines. •Policy/deployment:
I use vendor guides to create and manage client policies. I’ve been stuck in IT troubleshooting for 7 years and haven’t broken into Cyber yet. Look at my fancy certs… hire me please! 😂

The linked in employer job search functions prioritize things you did and common tags in your profile. The result is people listing every duty they ever have done. Example (actually mine 😂): “I fix issues before they lead to breeches or downtime. 4.5 years Powershell/Unix scripting, patch management, and creating Intune policies. Desktop Support Technician II San Jacinto College •False positive impact:
Minimized alert fatigue and improved response efficiency by catching and addressing 6 false positives across security tools over 4 years, while remediating a half-dozen vulnerabilities through thorough patch testing in a high-availability environment. •Patching:
Enhanced vulnerability management by scripting and deploying automated patches for Windows, macOS, and iOS systems, plus evaluating patch management tools; resulting in timely closure of security gaps for 5–10 non-auto-updating applications annually. •Policy/deployment:
Implemented standardized access controls by deploying terms-of-access acknowledgments on Windows and macOS, while managing policies and scripts in Intune/Azure and SCCM/MECM to streamline software distribution and reduce manual support needs. I currently have over 7 years total experience in IT. Active CompTIA certifications: A+, Network+, Security+, and CySA+.”
