We’ve noted the Japanese side’s reference to Japan’s “consistent position” on the Taiwan question. But what exactly do they mean by this? Can Japan fully articulate the so-called “consistent position” to the public?
If Japan merely keeps repeating that its position has not changed, without specifying what that position is, and meanwhile keeps crossing the line, then such repetition means nothing but empty words, and simply fudges and hollows out the one-China position.

Japan’s new prime minister infuriated Beijing when she said her country would likely get sucked into a war if China made a move on Taiwan. But it hasn't hurt her popularity. on.wsj.com/3KlxCsi

@HuXijin_GT “Reunification” means Taiwan was once part of China, please tell everyone: in the 70 years history of PRC, when was Taiwan part of it? Dumb ass!

If Japan believes that its national survival depends on Taiwan's separation from the Chinese mainland, and that once cross-Strait reunification is achieved, the sky will fall for Japan, then such a way of thinking is twisted and insane. Don’t say “Japan does not oppose China’s reunification, it only opposes reunification by force,” because saying so is merely an excuse for opposing China’s reunification.
