@AldiUK I don’t know what else to do, so I suppose I’m asking for help from the power of the internet. My stepson, Matthew, works for Aldi in Guiseley. His mother is at end of life. To be clear I expect her to pass today. He asked for compassionate leave & they’ve refused. I’m told they called him in for a ten minute meeting on his day off, today, the day she’s probably going to pass to “assess how upset he is”. I don’t know what to do, other than hope this goes viral and Aldi head office picks it up and does the right thing. Isn’t calling someone in for a meeting on a day off illegal? Isn’t assessing how much someone is upset immoral? This is his mother!!! How can a business behave this way? He’s reaching out to their HR, but, I expect they work M-F 9-5. It’s deeply distressing me that they’ve treated him this way. I really don’t need this today. Needless to say there is now one less Aldi shopper in the UK. Sorry, rant over.
