The Oxford Campus at the University of Mississippi is closed through Sunday, Feb. 1. As a result, classes and academic activities are canceled. Students and employees are experiencing widespread power outages, internet connection challenges, and unreliable cellphone service. Also, many are working to manage recovery from the impacts of the storm. In addition to the cancellation of classes and activities, assignments, homework, and deadlines scheduled for this week should be adjusted. The add/drop date for classes is currently scheduled for Monday, Feb. 2. If there is any change to this date, a notification will be sent out via the regular channels. Thank you for your efforts to stay safe and to enable others to do the same. Sincerely, Noel E. Wilkin Provost & Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs

The safety and well-being of our students, faculty, and staff remain our highest priority as winter weather continues to impact our campus and community. Please see the following updates: The GCF Student Union has power and is open as a warming shelter for University of Mississippi students and employees. Please note that we don’t have the ability or staff to provide food at the Student Union at this time. The water bottle dispensers on every level are working. The Rebel Market has been our food service location for this event. Monday hours: 10 a.m.– 5 p.m. Power has been restored to several residence halls, and crews continue working around the clock, in close coordination with local utility providers and emergency partners, to restore power to remaining residence halls as safely and quickly as conditions allow. The university has established a Call Center for non-emergency university updates, 662-915-7211. Call Center hours: 8 a.m.– 8 p.m. We appreciate your patience and care for one another during these challenging conditions. Additional updates will be shared as new information becomes available.

🚨 Winter Weather Road Update 🚨 As winter weather continues to impact our area, Dispatch is receiving a very high volume of calls regarding road conditions. To help keep Dispatch phone lines open for emergencies, we encourage residents to use the following live resources for real-time updates before heading out: 👉 MDOT Traffic Cameras (live road conditions): mobile.mdottraffic.com 👉 Live Weather Updates (YouTube): youtube.com/live/0zldXwTD8… Monitoring these resources — along with our social media updates — helps prevent Dispatch lines from being tied up, ensuring they remain available for emergency calls and situations requiring immediate assistance. If you do not have an emergency, please check these live feeds instead of calling. As always, use extreme caution if you must travel and stay safe. ❄️🚔
