The escalation of hostilities in the Middle East is affecting civilians on all sides. In Iran, @Iranian_RCS has activated its network of volunteers across the country to deliver essential humanitarian services and provide support to people affected by the emergency.

Following the recent escalation of hostilities in the Middle East, the Magen David Adom @Mdais has mobilized staff and volunteers across the country. Teams are treating and evacuating affected people to hospitals and transferring bedridden and ventilated patients to protected locations.

During Commissioner @hadjalahbib visit to Ukraine, @RedCrossUkraine explained how they are working with communities to strengthen their resilience: providing immediate humanitarian logistics support, while addressing the human and psychological impact of the prolonged winter.

Building resilient health systems requires strong collaboration across public institutions, private sector & civil society. The upcoming EU Global Health Resilience Initiative should ensure this cooperation placing communities at the centre of health care design and delivery.

Heavy storms and floods across Portugal and Spain caused power cuts and damaged homes. @cruzvermelha_pt and @CruzRojaEsp volunteers are on the ground, where help is needed most.

Very pleased to be in Brussels today for a productive Strategic Dialogue with the EU, alongside @MPopowskiEU and other DGs from across the EU. We jointly shared our perspectives on the current humanitarian context and both emphasised the need to strengthen collaboration and trust in the humanitarian ecosystem. As the needs outstrips resources, we also discussed ways to diversify partnerships, maximise the use of generous grants while working towards more innovative financing solutions. On the margins of the dialogue, I also had a very insightful bilateral discussion with @MPopowskiEU, grounded in trust and open dialogue. Our exchange focused on building on the strong and long-standing partnership between the EU and the IFRC Network. Looking forward to continuing the conversation as we work together with our member National Societies to strengthen locally led, sustainable humanitarian action and to roll out the IFRC Renewal.

Our recommendations for humane reception systems across Europe: 🔸 Ensure access to adequate reception conditions for all asylum seekers. 🔸 Put people at the centre. 🔸 Continue support after reception.
