They literally just looked at top earners and laid people off. Incredibly irresponsible of them to play so fast and loose with your company’s ethics. They have one job.

As an indie, I don’t agree. You put your game on Steam because that’s where the buyers are. Valve doesn’t give a shit about devs. They take 30% of what you make and, as a dev, you get nothing in return. Just an algorithm you have to fight against. The backend sucks, it really sucks. You get zero help with marketing. I mean tools for data analysis, A B testing, or any kind of insight that helps you improve your game. We can’t even see real time data. You have to wait 24 to 48 hours just to get minimal info. As a player, sure, I like that their launcher is lighter compared to Epic. That’s about it. The problem is that players want everything. They don’t want game prices to go up, they don’t want devs to cut costs using AI, but they keep supporting a company that refuses to lower that 30% cut for indies. 🤷

Lol 😂 As indie, I gladly give Valve 30% cut. They’re supporting open source: Linux, Proton, Fex-Emu, etc. Valve is keeping tech free and markets accessible for all. They’re prob the only one that still care abt gaming, the gamers & devs. not greed. It’s long term thinking

This is disgusting and I can’t wait for the appeals. The precedent set by YouTube being liable for screen-time addiction is kind of scary. Treating algorithms like a defective product opens the door to endless lawsuits over “addictive” tech. What’s next? Books, video games, junk food? What happened to personal responsibility?

For added context, the actual drink protectors had no branding on them. This is a pic from one of many women who were using them at the CF party and were extremely thankful for them. The lil package with the drink condom had like a cutesy funny sticker in each one letting women know to protect their drink but as one can see, it was pretty harmless and just a funny way of letting people know what the package was for. UwU Underground clearly isn't selling against CF or even a tech vendor. They make funny and educational free music online as told by women in this industry. Handing out drink protectors is someone near and dear to all of us because many either have personally experienced having something slipped into our drink or someone we know. We also knew someone who was dosed at a bar just on Monday.

Dear @Cloudflare our field team got kicked out of your party for handing out drink protection kits By a Director of Sales. Explain, slowly, what part of "don’t get drugged" conflicts with your brand and beliefs? Go ahead we'll wait

In the coming days, employers will see a stream of resumes of once-in-a-lifetime quality folks. An important thing to understand is that Epic never lowered our hiring standards as we grew, and the layoff wasn't a performance-based "rightsizing" as companies call it nowadays. It's a sound bet that anyone with Epic Games on their resume is in the top few percent of their discipline.
