Another illegal and unconstitutional action by Trump, this time capturing the President of Venezuela and claiming the power to "operate" Venezuela. This action is really designed to enrich Trump himself and US oil companies at a great cost to US taxpayers and the rule of law.

As a proud Jew, who began the effort to bring Nazi war criminals living in the US to justice and whose family sheltered Jews fleeing pogroms in Russia, I condemn Israel's handling of Gaza. Starvation of the children and civilians is hateful and must stop. Shame on Israel.

I want to honor Jimmy Carter today for his steadfast support as president for women's rights, refugee rights and human rights. He was a principled, dedicated man, and it was a privilege to work as a Congresswoman with him on these issues. My deepest condolences to his family.

In condemning former Rep Matt Gaetz, the House Ethics report also implicitly condemns Donald Trump. In naming Gaetz as his pick for Attorney General, Trump showed his contempt for the rule of law and for the American people who deserve law abiding Cabinet officers.

@realDonaldTrump is at it again--foaming at the mouth with his racism, sexism and lies. His vulgar attacks on @VP are an embarrassment to America--how disgusting for the US that this deranged, foul-mouthed fool is a candidate for president. Happily, @VP will win decisively.

Just compare Kamala's smile @VP to Trump's scowl and glowering face. It tells the whole story in a nutshell. The choice is between her hope and joy and Trump's anger and hate. The Harris-Walz ticket will triumph.

From the first woman elected DA in NYC to the first woman elected DA in San Francisco who became the first woman vice president of the US, @VP "Go, girl, go!" You have the guts, strength, compassion and smarts to defeat Trump and make America's promise work for everyone.

@PresidenBiden, whom I have known since we both came to Washington in 1973, made a very brave and difficult decision yesterday. I honor him for it. He acted selflessly, in the interest of his country and all Americans. Joe, we are grateful for your amazing presidency.

The guilty verdict against Trump shows how justice can be done. The jury was not intimidated. The judge was highly professional. The prosecutors presented a meticulous case. Trump's name calling got him nowhere. I'm so proud of New York City today.

@realDonaldTrump trivializes the horrors of the Nazis by comparing Biden's Administration to the Gestapo. No surprise coming from a former president who has dined with outspoken antisemites and called neo-Nazis and racists in Charlottesville "fine people."

The House managers who delivered the impeachment articles to the Senate for #HHSSecretary Mayorkas were a sorry sight. The impeachment violates the Constitution. There was no evidence of high crimes and misdemeanors and it passed with a one vote margin after failing at first.

@JoyceWhiteVance Agree. Clarence Thomas' refusal to recuse himself from cases involving Trump is inexcusable. It taints the proceedings and raises deep questions about the legitimacy of the Court's rulings. Members of the Court itself should be making statements about this.

Big picture: it still boggles my mind that Clarence Thomas participated in the 14th Amendment case & will apparently do so in the presidential immunity appeal too and that there hasn't been sustained outrage over this.

#AlexeiNavalny, a courageous fighter for democracy in Russia, sadly died at the hands of Putin, but Republicans in the House wouldn't stand up to Putin over Ukraine and fled home for vacation. Putin will try to kill our democracy too by continuing to support his puppet #Trump.

The second effort to impeach Sec'y Mayorkas is disgraceful, as was the first. Impeachment is designed to protect against an abuse of power that threatens our democracy. There is no evidence of that. None. The House is abusing its own power by impeaching for political reasons.
