We should be rewarding employees who speak out, not retaliating. Faye Bernstein is a brave whistleblower who testified before our fraud committee today about DHS fraud, and no one from the department even bothered to show up.

So, the Department of Human Services was “too busy” to attend today’s fraud committee hearing where a whistleblower testified, but showed up for another hearing in the same room two minutes after the fraud committee adjourned.

Our House Fraud Prevention and State Agency Oversight Policy Committee held its first hearing of the 2026 session today to discuss autism services in the state. Sadly, we heard more of the same when it comes to fraud and over-billing.
