Hi there, Amish style salads are different from more traditional recipes because they tend to be sweeter. Our Amish style potato salad includes diced tender russet potatoes, hard-cooked eggs, crunchy pieces of celery, and a little sugar in a rich and sweet mayonnaise dressing 😋 Also, we want to assure you that we have not changed our products from how they have always been produced. Neither the ingredients, nor suppliers, have changed – our labeling is now reflecting a change in USDA labeling guidelines.
Some additional info: BE and GMO are not the same definition. Consumers will be noticing this on more and more labels nationwide, from all manufacturers, as they begin to come into compliance with their labeling. The USDA, in partnership with the Agricultural Marketing Service, has identified a list of 13 ingredients that require bioengineered labeling that started on January 1, 2021. Ingredients that must be labeled as bioengineered are:
• Alfalfa
• Apple (Arctictm Varieties)
• Canola
• Corn
• Cotton
• Eggplant (BARI Bt Begun Varieties)
• Papaya (Ringspot Virus-Resistant Varieties)
• Pineapple (Pink Flesh Varieties)
• Potato (NOT gold, red skin, sweet)
• Salmon (Aquadvantage®)
• Soybean
• Squash (Summer)
• Sugarbeet
We hope this helps!
