The level of "anti-imperialist" venom directed at Syrians on the occasion of Sharaa's visit to Berlin and London is wild. I used to think the hate was because of his jihadi past. Today, I believe the angry ones would have reacted the same way even if the president was - as I had always hoped - a democratic opposition figure. Let's face it: it's really about the victory of the Syrian Revolution and the end of the Assad "resistance" regime, not about the credentials of the liberator or leader.

Earlier today, #SDF forces launched several artillery rocket barrages on the Arab village of al-Safa, south of #Hasakeh — leaving 5 civilians dead & causing local displacement towards gov’t-controlled areas. #SDF fighters filmed some of the shelling themselves.

Children are still being released from prison in Syria. Not from Assad's prisons, but from the SDF - the Kurdish PKK-led project that has collapsed in the past week.

Many different videos are showing boys (some just 10 years old) and teens after their release - or rather their rescue - from an SDF prison in Raqqa. You know, Syrians started a revolution in Daraa because their children were unjustly detained for a few weeks only and abused.

The images of children emerging from prison are a stain on the SDF and on anyone who attempts to downplay them, as they constitute a profound moral and institutional failure. Imprisoning any adult unlawfully is already a crime of the highest magnitude, let alone a child who cannot legally bear criminal responsibility. Even if a child were to commit murder, prison is not where they belong. The long-lasting psychological and developmental damage that may have been inflicted on these children amounts to the destruction of human life.

A full review of al-Aqtan Prison in #Raqqa by #Syria's MOI continues. This morning, 126 minors (some as young as 10yrs old) were moved to the city's justice building, to process their release. Most had been detained by the #SDF on charges of supporting the #Damascus gov't.

~12hrs ago, #Syria's gov't processed the release of 126 minors from the previously #SDF-administered al-Aqtan Prison in #Raqqa. As of now, 4 children haven't been reunited with family as they're unable to communicate due to shock & signs of torture. These 2 just found family.

Syrian government forces freed about 126 minors from al-Aqtan Prison in Raqqa after SDF/YPG's withdrawal. Many of the children were detained for political reasons such as protests, refusing conscription, or symbolic acts like raising the Syrian flag.
