The only time I’ve experienced temperatures like this before was in Perth, Australia but they had the infrastructure to cope. This is NOT normal for the UK (and some of Europe) and anyone trying to convince you otherwise is likely taking money from the fossil fuel industry.

This storm is something else. I had a job down at Ruislip earlier and this rain and lighting is insane. I’ve not seen anything like this in years in London. I’ve not seen flash flooding this bad in Ruislip in quite a few years #London #Thunderstorm #Lightning #Flooding

Remeber this, Labour had 402 MP's, and not one of them was good enough to replace Starmer. They had to have a by-election by a Labour MP resigning, to get someone in to replace him. Thats the quality of the MP's running the country.

Here’s Pippa with her wishful narrative again, rather than taking the time to explain a very simple fact: if Sir Keir Starmer were to resign, it would automatically trigger a Labour leadership election. There are plenty of potential candidates who could secure the required nominations and put themselves before the membership. Yet Pippa would rather leave people ignorant of the process and pretend that Andy Burnham simply walks into the leadership. That is not how the Labour Party’s rules work. What is also being ignored is that there are around 200 Labour MPs who have not publicly come out against Starmer. They have remained largely silent, and amongst them are several credible candidates who could seek the leadership while continuing the mandate on which Labour was elected. The reality is that Burnham does not automatically inherit that mandate. He would have to win a leadership election first. That is the transparent democratic process that should be reported, rather than endless speculation presented as fact. The members deserve to know how the process works, not be fed a narrative designed to make one outcome appear inevitable.

What we know this morning 👇 Cabinet ministers expect Keir Starmer expected to announce timetable for his departure today, clearing way for Andy Burnham to become PM w/o contest. More than half a dozen cabinet ministers - Miliband, Mahmood, Cooper, Reynolds, Alexander x 2, Healey - have in their own ways indicated privately to PM his time is up. Starmer and his inner circle began work on drafts of resignation speech on Saturday - when he was holed up in Chequers with wife Victoria - even as other options remained open. Most likely timetable involves PM staying in office until autumn, allowing a new leader to rally Labour troops at party’s annual conference in September. It is possible that Starmer could announce departure without discussion with Burnham about his plan, with allies believing he should go on own terms. Still unclear whether a coronation or contest follows - if any other challengers could gain necessary support - but most insiders I’ve spoken to think a formal contest is unlikely. Ten years ago the people of this country voted to leave the EU in the biggest expression of popular will in our history. We need to stop fearing the freedom and make use of it and move on together. 🇬🇧

@SamCKx "Faking engagement to convince people of popularity in the manner he does is election fraud." Are you for real ? What an absurd statement - smells of desperation ! Or are Labour going to use this absurdity to lock up even more of your political rivals ?

If we needed anymore evidence that much of what we see on X is fake, these are the Makerfield by election results: LABOUR: 24,937 REFORM: 15,696 RESTORE: 3,111 CONSERVATIVES: 997 GREEN: 308 Rupert Lowe has over 850,000 "followers" on X - one of the most of any British political figure, all his posts are highly botted with 10,000s of likes. His party barely scraped 3000 votes and have never come close to winning a seat. Not even Rupert's own seat was won as part of Restore. Faking engagement to convince people of popularity in the manner he does is election fraud. It is also incredibly likely all this is foreign funded, and undeclared - again, election fraud. So much of what you read on X about UK politics and the UK in general is funded propaganda intended to overthrow the people's elected representation, and replace it with representation that supports elites and grifters whose sole purpose is to serve their own means, and hurt working people. We must continue to fight against this misinformation if we love our country. 🇬🇧 The British people have once again rejected grift and division.

Watched Brexit programme on BBC the other day. What would Farage, Johnson and Gove say now? We are in a total mess. Small biz can't do biz easy with EU. The biggest disaster I have experienced in my lifetime. Sunderland tipped the scales. Nissan only went to Sunderland so they could sell cars to the EU at low prices.
