@644Steve @DrJMainPidd @MRJamesPodcast @Hypnogoria My knowledge of the genre is anything but exhaustive so I couldn’t state authoritatively that Benson had invented it (he did give a new twist to tropes from other cultures, as in The Step), but he surely gave it its most successful incarnation.

I don’t often speak about this, and never publicly, but… just under 10yrs ago I was ‘gay bashed’ just before Christmas. It was horrific and terrifying. My experience tonight has brought some of that stuff back. On a train (still) feeling reflective and angry

Back of my Polling Card for local elections. For 1st time, photo ID is required. Card gives many options for elderly or those with disability. None, NONE, for younger or student voters. The policy is simply biased against younger voters, designed to suppress their vote.
