To reduce the spread of #COVID19 in schools, ensure good ventilation by opening windows and doors when possible and safe, or providing adequate mechanical ventilation. Wear masks if unsure about ventilation, and encourage outdoor activities when feasible.

Suicidology update: 2022 pediatric suicide rates =-=-=-=-= We now have 5 months of data for 2022, which allows me to calculate the "january-may" suicide rate for the past 23 years in the US. In the start of the 3rd year of the pandemic, a significant decrease is seen. /1

In the dataset itself, we can create a model for "mode of instruction for school" and I was able to demonstrate that being *in person* was associated with a 1.5x likelihood of being sad, vs being remote.

I did factor analysis to see which of the survey's associations were most strongly linked to sadness, and I found that by far the most significant were:
abuse in the home
being female
being LGBQ+
sleeping poorly
and enduring racial mistreatment

The sadness item tilted up in 2017 and increased sharply in 2019 too, and 2021 continued that trend. Certainly a record.
The other statistics (suicide thinking, plans, and attempts) are well within the previous years of the survey.

Unvaccinated women who got COVID-19 during pregnancy were at higher risk of stillbirth.
Pharmaceutical companies & gov't excluded pregnant people from vaccine trials. At the same time, people spread false info about the vaccine's safety in pregnancy.
