@vid_hardt Personally I don’t see it that way; the reason it works is because Guest has real affection for the characters.

@Rob197711 Guffman lost me because Guest seemed to be laughing at his characters, punching down, so it wasn't funny. Recently saw a deleted scene, of a stage production that showed them with more dignity and heart, if still incompetent. Wish the film had more of that.

Just rewatched A Few Good Men. Wife’s first time. It’s just so, so good. Made me really miss the somewhat wholesome, adult studio drama. Made me miss Rob Reiner. Made me miss seeing Jack Nicholson on screen. I love the movies.

@Rob197711 @Sherylynn_R2 It’s fine. Neil Jordan is a good director. A bit uneven. But beautiful for sure. You have to remember what a big risk this was for Cruise coming off Days Of Thunder and A Few Good Men.
