Remember when Balls interviewed victims of the #ContaminatedBlood scandal. No mention of course that his wife Yvette Cooper ignored my key evidence from early 2000s after we met at Westminster and helped block compensation and a public inquiry when Health Minister.

How dare you suggest I am the spouse of a senior Labour politician, and my breakfast television spot might, perhaps, indicate a conflict of interest!

Oxford University has done the maths on "drill baby drill" vs a fully renewable UK. Maximum North Sea extraction: saves households £16–£82/year. But ONLY if the government takes every penny of tax revenue and hands it back to households. If they don't, zero benefit. Full renewables: saves households up to £441/year. Recurring. Every year. Indefinitely. The North Sea runs out around 2040. Renewables don't. The analysis was done using January 2026 prices — before the Iran war sent oil to $116 a barrel. Even with cheap fossil fuels as the baseline, renewables win. This isn't ideology. It's arithmetic. Smith School of Enterprise and the Environment, University of Oxford. March 2026.

Jeez. Labour MP’s have just voted to give police unprecedented powers to ban recurring protests turning a fundamental freedom into a privilege granted by the state. No protest movement has ever brought about change through one single march or action - it’s precisely the cumulative nature of protest that has resulted in progressive change and held governments to account. More than 40 civil society groups including the TUC joined forces to oppose this draconian crackdown by the government on our rights to freedom of expression and assembly but the government has driven it through anyway. How did it come to this?
Peter Stefanovic@PeterStefanovi2

🚨THIS WEEK MP’S WILL VOTE ON A BILL TO GIVE POLICE UNPRECEDENTED POWERS TO BAN RECURRING PROTESTS TURNING A FUNDAMENTAL FREEDOM INTO A PRIVILEGE GRANTED BY THE STATE We cannot allow this government to create a society where protest is treated as a privilege granted by the state rather than a right held by the people. The right to protest is precious and must be defended. ITS NOT TOO LATE to stop this shocking and shameful attack on our fundamental right to protest. More than 40 civil society groups including the TUC and Greenpeace have joined forces to oppose this draconian crackdown on our right to freedom of expression and assembly - and you can help too by CONTACTING YOUR MP RIGHT NOW - tag them to this film and and ask them to oppose this

If you want a practical example of why this fund is bullshit, I have one from the River Roding. The Roding has billions of litres of sewage entering it illegally every year & the EA has refused to prosecute a single one. Separately, our volunteer River charity has been campaigning to restore the channel of the river through Ilford golf course & create a wetland. A large river charity (who will remain nameless) told us they could help us get funding for the restoration: great, we thought. They were awarded tens of thousands of pounds from the water company fine fund & instead of actually restoring the river, they spent it (without consulting us) on staff time & consultant costs to produce a *report* about restoring the river. This report will then sit on a shelf somewhere and meanwhile the sewage still illegally enters the river & the river channel is still not restored. Our volunteers were forced to give up their free time & rely on local donations (a fraction of the amount spent on the report) to begin the restoration work as best we could ourselves. The system is utterly broken and our rivers are paying the price.
Defra UK@DefraGovUK

Following tough action by the @EnvAgency, water companies have paid a record £8.5 million into projects to restore rivers, wildlife and habitats. This money will be reinvested directly where damage has occurred. Find out more: gov.uk/government/new…

The most annoying thing about being human on Earth right now is the absolute waste of potential. Brilliant minds and artists could be solving world hunger, climate change, and ending cancer, etc. We could house, feed, clothe, and care for everyone. But instead, we’ve decided to let a handful of asshats become billionaires, start wars, murder and imprison people, and keep the majority in poverty while ruining the climate. It’s so stupid. The wasted ingenuity hurts to think about.

Yvette Cooper and Keir Starmer proscribed a protest group, and Shabana Mahmood continued with it But despite the UK's High Court saying it was unlawful Counter terrorism police are spending their time arresting pensioners with walking sticks Never forget what Labour's Baron Hain said in the House of Lords, "This Labour government is treating Palestine Action as equivalent to ISIS or Al Qaeda, which is intellectually bankrupt, politically unprincipled, and morally wrong. Frankly I'm deeply ashamed" This is Cooper, Starmer and Mahmood's legacy - what a disgrace all three of them are Vote Labour out in the May elections

Enough of the bullshit, enough of the rhetoric, enough of the fiddling around the edges, enough of rearranging the deckchairs, enough of pointless commissions and even more pointless reports, enough of the lying, enough of the deceit, enough of the gaslighting, enough of the masquerade, enough of the pretending it's time for govt to get a grip, to show leadership, to show determination, to do the right thing, to act. It's time to put the water industry back into public ownership and the time to do that is now. But have they got the balls?!
