@SimonCalder I’ve travelled to the US 20+ times since early 90s. There is still plenty more I’d like to see. But I refuse to let the ‘land of free speech’ poke around my socials looking for something it doesn’t like. And I won’t risk my safety in a country which doesn’t welcome foreigners.

Thanks to all 12,000 who voted on their attitude to travelling to the US. Four out of five chose "I would not travel there".

How do you feel about travelling to the US in the wake of another killing by ICE in Minneapolis – as well as President Trump's claim that British and other foreign troops fighting alongside the Americans "stayed a little back, a little off the front lines”? Let me know your view.

Bought a MacBook Pro from @backmarket uk. Arrived today. Really happy. And then I spotted there was something odd about the keyboard. Rather more ‘A’s and umlauts than I need. I checked the item listing. It definitely say ‘QWERTY - English and yet here I am with a Finnish laptop.

I just want to send a note of support to my behind the scenes colleagues and friends at @GMB and @thismorning, and across ITV daytime.
Many, including scores of hardworking, dedicated, talented, production staff, and studio and other crew, (as has widely been reported) are being told their roles are at risk of redundancy and that they will have to compete for similar positions.
It's a very difficult time, and I want to send a public note of appreciation for everything they do and have done (as I'm not due in the building for a while to see people in person - and even when there its only a fraction).
And I think its important to be clear, in public, that this is primarily a function of the decline in linear television - and not a reflection on the quality of the work.
TV ratings (and thus for ITV, show revenue) keep dropping by, say, 10% year on year as more people switch to streaming and other online eyeball competition. That then leads to cost cutting, and job losses.
Not that understanding the rational makes it easier, for anyone facing this life challenge.
Good vibes to all.

The UK immediately needs to:
- Increase defence spending rapidly (rather than shrinking its army)
- Focus its military strategy on deterring Russian aggression in Europe (rather than confronting ‘global threats’)
- Work with European allies to defend Europe under a NATO that doesn’t have US support (rather than assuming that America guarantees European security).
Anything less would be a government dereliction of duty.

The Telegraph removed this story because instead of sympathy, people were laughing at their ridiculous greed. Don't spread it The Telegraph wouldn't like that. 🤣
