@psychmag Article by Jamie Cummins in March 2026 The Psychologist was really interesting. I learned a lot about transformer models but also about applications with which I am unfamiliar. Personally, I found it one of the most useful pieces in years

@chu_sk8terboi I think Ami's skate had much lower PCS. Alyssa had the crowd - in Italy - clapping along. So there was palpable excitement during Alysa's skate. And Kaori clearly better composition and skating skills than Ami right now. I'm neither American nor Japanese

@josiah_wampfler I had the exact same thought about Kaori and Michelle. Michelle was her generation's most expressive artist. Kaori has the best skating skills and athletic power of this quadrennial

Michelle Kwan never won the Olympic gold. Neither did Mao Asada. As meaningful as the Olympics are, it is one competition every four years. Shit happens. Kaori Sakamoto is still a 3x World Champion with two Olympic medals. She's secured her spot in history.

@emmasmithjourno This piece about Eteri states: "But she was injured last year, struggled with errors this season, and it was on that quad loop that her medal dreams were dashed." It was in fact a quad toe loop.

After her skaters won women's Olympic gold in 2018 and 2022, the Eteri Tutberidze reign came to an end last night. For many in figure skating, it was about time. bbc.co.uk/sport/articles…

@emmasmithjourno Also, you wrote: "Liu came into the free skate in third place following a couple of errors in the short program, but produced a performance for the ages." She actually only got negative GOE on the lutz-loop combination. Positive GOEs on all other elements. So only ONE error.

Alysa Liu was already a figure skating champion and an American celebrity. Tonight at #MilanCortinaOlympics2026, she became a global superstar. Report from the women's free skate, an Olympic event which truly lived up to hopes and expectations. bbc.com/sport/articles…

@emmasmithjourno You wrote: "She was playing catch up on Nakai... following a mistake on her triple lutz where she failed to fully rotate in the element." But we saw (and the scoring sheet confirms a q) that Alysa failed to fully rotate the triple loop in combo, not lutz Ask me if unclear😊

@BryanAGraham I've suggested a few improvements for your piece on Alysa Liu for the Guardian. Message me if anything is unclear. Nakai did make several small errors in second half - but the biggest error was in the first half.
