@SBakerMD Expand your horizons. Don’t cross the border unless you are up to trying Cabrito! It’s pretty good too. Just saying.

This really happened 1988, Austin Texas. I’m 20 years old, currently a junior in college at the University of Texas, studying for my biology degree as a pre-med student. I’m currently rocking a 4.0 GPA and life is pretty good. Myself, my roommate and one of my high school buddies who is up from San Marcos, is by for a visit and we are just hanging out on a Saturday evening imbibing in some beers at our Stassney Woods apartment down in South Austin. My roommate, who was studying to be an engineer thought it would be a great idea to drive out to Edna, Texas and hang out with his friend Chuck, who had a rice farm. Not sure why we agreed, given that the likely hood of meeting attractive girls in Edna was about 1% as likely as it would be in Austin, but we all hopped in my 1985, black Pontiac “Knight Rider” Firebird and headed that way. As an aside, Edna Texas is where the famous wrestler “Stone Cold” Steve Austin was from and I shared this story with him when I did his podcast several years back. Anyway, I was relatively new to Texas at the time, having moved to Lake Jackson in high school having come from Indiana. And although I liked some of the “new” food, I was exposed to, like chicken fried steak, I absolutely did not like Tex Mex food. Now, mind you I liked the meat in things like fajitas, but guacamole, peppers, tomatoes, onions, salsa were all things I just never liked. This will become relevant soon. Anyway after about a 2 and a half hour drive we arrive in exciting Edna Tx It’s now around 10 pm or so and we were hanging out in the barn, putting down some more beers, when in walks one of the migrant workers carrying a large sack of food. I think his name was Miguel, but I don’t remember for sure as it’s been almost 40 years and as I said, we all had a few beers on board. So, as I’d mentioned I was somewhat new to Texas and at this point, I had never tried or even heard of a tamale before. This is what was in the bag and Miguel wanted to share them with all of us. Given that I literally hated all of the vegetables in Mexican food and had no idea what was in a tamale, I politely declined. Some Spanish was exchanged between Chuck and Miguel, which I did not speak at the time. Turns out these tamales were made by Miguel’s mother and he was a little upset that I wasn’t going to try one. I explained to Chuck that I actually pretty much hated Mexican food because of the various vegetables and that I still would not be trying his mother’s tamales. Now, like the rest of us, Miguel also had been drinking and apparently my refusal was pretty upsetting and offensive to him. As I said I didn’t understand Spanish but I got the gist that he was becoming pretty pissed off at my refusal to partake in what I thought was I diabolical mixture of nasty vegetable gruel. It was at this moment when I was standing resolute in my refusal that Miguel, opened his jacket, pulled out a pistol, pointed it at me and said in heavily accented English “Eat the Fucking tamale” Let me tell you, that tamale was delicious and I ate three more! Now this story actually end with all of us in a Mexican jail, but that one is for another time!

@WalkerATX @UTAustin @fox7austin Lived just a few blocks from DKR at that time. We would trot off breakfast going around the track inside most days. Walk back home just past Posse East. Different time for sure. Wouldn’t try that now.

Views worth consideration.

When @KenPaxtonTX came on the show, he called it out: "There’s nothing wrong with being America First. Every other country is… why aren’t we?" We shouldn’t be giving away American jobs, benefits, or even college seats to people here illegally.

7 days until YOU make history and change the face of public service for the country. Doc Pete Chambers is currently AHEAD among decided GOP voters and TIED among undecideds. That’s exactly why Abbott’s campaign is pulling out all the stops and scrambling for big endorsements.

What’s going on in Texas? @pena4ATX was denied information about the Republican Convention, while Democrats are getting theirs. It’s starting to look like 2020 all over again. Democrats are desperate to flip Texas blue and it’s showing. @ScottPresler @AAGDhillon

📣BREAKING TEXAS BREAKING: Williamson County Elections Administrator @WilcoElections Caught Destroying Evidence of Surveillance Gaps A digital clock in the Early Voting Ballot Board room exposed 2+ HOURS of missing surveillance video on 2/20/26. What did EA Bridgette Escobedo do? She unplugged the clock. 🧵 1/ Dr. Laura Pressley was monitoring the legally required surveillance feed (Tex. Elec. Code §127.1232(b)) and noticed the clock on the EVBB table jumped from 5:18pm→6:24pm, then again from 6:47pm→7:47pm. Over 2 hours of video — gone. 2/ AFTER those 2+ hours of missing footage, Escobedo personally delivered 4 early voting ballot boxes to the vault — alone. No Republican designee. No watchers. No chain of custody. Then at 8:28pm she unplugged the clock. 3/ The clock stayed off for nearly 5 DAYS — eliminating the only independent timestamp that could expose future video gaps. 4/ TODAY at noon, the Republican Presiding Judge plugged the clock back in. At 4:53pm, Escobedo marched into the EVBB room, shook the clock at the judge, and physically REMOVED it from the room. It's all on video. The ballot board members laughed at her after she left. 5/ Why would an elections administrator remove a clock from a room with legally required 24/7 surveillance? Because that clock is the only way the public can verify the video feed hasn't been spliced. Williamson County, Texas. March 2026 Republican Primary. This is happening RIGHT NOW.

@WallStreetApes There are just so many better places to go. The feeling of getting screwed just for being in Vegas is real. You can’t piss on the people and tell them it’s rain. They can have it. Let’s see how this turns out.

Data shows Las Vegas Tourism has dropped so low, “The last time numbers fell that much outside of the pandemic was right after the Great Recession” Despite this, gambling revenue is up The business model has moved to rising costs and “nickel-and-diming” fees. Everything is more expensive: resort fees, parking fees, service fees, pool fees, overpriced water ($14 bottles), mini-bar traps ($75 charges), and other hidden fees that hit visitors the moment they arrive The city is moving more towards catering to the ultra wealthy as a new business model. This isn’t a conspiracy theory, it’s what they’re actually doing The Vegas Strip has been consolidated into a few monopolies. Big casinos (MGM, Caesars controlling ~70% of the Strip) “Why Vegas is different now”
