#ICYMI: This spring, we made history by hosting the first-ever #FAMUSJGC Accelerating Career Excellence (ACE) Broadcast Bootcamp, sponsored by the Dow Jones News Fund. Held in March, the event marked a major milestone for the Journalism Division. As our students prepare for a new academic year, we’re looking back at how the program helped to position students for success. Over three days, students learned the fundamentals of video journalism, from setting up a camera and shooting from different angles to conducting and executing interviews effectively. The goal? To help train the next generation of journalists by offering real-world experience that goes beyond the classroom. The workshop was guided by seven mentors, all J-School alumni. Their shared experience as former students helped them connect with participants and offer tailored support. Mentors ranged from recent graduates to industry veterans who completed their degrees more than three decades ago, reinforcing the strength of the SJGC network.
