The attacks on foreign researchers at Harvard and elsewhere are appalling. Scientists from other countries have enriched my education, training and research at every single stage of my career, and have become my closest and most cherished colleagues and friends. If there is a problem with researchers from other countries in the US it is that we do not value them enough, we do not appreciate how incredibly lucky we are that they have chosen - and were able - to come here, and we do not fight hard enough to make sure that they are welcome and that their status is not used against them in any way.

She could be executed at any moment, her last hope has been destroyed! The court has rejected Pakhshan Azizi’s request for a retrial, despite clear evidence of her innocence. This was the final hope for her family, her friends, and all of us who fought for her freedom. Now, at any moment, her life could be taken. is not a criminal, she is a humanitarian who risked everything to aid those suffering from war and violence, even working on the front lines in Syria to help children affected by ISIS. Her only “crime” was standing up for the most vulnerable. Yet, she has been sentenced to death for an offense she never committed. This is not just one execution, it is part of the Islamic Republic’s brutal retaliation against the Woman, Life, Freedom movement. I call on the international community, especially women across the globe, to stand with us Iranians in the fight to save her life. We cannot let this courageous woman, who fought against terrorism and injustice, be executed in silence.
