Would just like to add it has cost me upwards of £5000 to re purchase and repair my vehicle.

Anyone who can share this post please do so it would be appreciated and thank you to everyone that does. Even if this doesn’t force them to take action I just want people to be careful when signing up for a David Lloyd membership. They make you feel like you have less rights as you think.

David Lloyd Long Ashton customer service is unacceptable. They ignore you again and again and it feels as though they want you to give up. Even when trying to cancel my membership as I felt for the price I was paying I wasn’t getting any security and not to mention the constant issues the gym had with air con units dripping everywhere, even on you as you train and wet floor signs with buckets being put out continuously. When I tried to cancel and explained I also couldn’t afford the monthly cost as I would have to re purchase all the equipment stolen they said, “ we are sorry to here this but you will still have to pay the full amount until the contract ends”.

This isn’t usually what I’m about but since it has gone quiet with @DavidLloydUK and have give them multiple opportunities to reply I feel I have no choice. On the 19/11/2024 my van was broken into in the what I thought was secure car park at David Lloyd Bristol Long Ashton.

In the terms and conditions of the membership on there site which I will show below; this is what I beleive to be negligence on there behalf as the gates were not fixed or just left open and failure to provide proper CCTV to the car park which I believe to be failure to take reasonable care.

A David Lloyd membership to use there facilities are priced up to £240pm depending on what package and grade of facility. I payed about £140pm which is still a lot for a gym facility but the whole reason I paid that premium so I could park my vehicle securely as everyone knows van theft is everywhere in the UK atm. The police won’t go anywhere near the situation.

And are “only there as a deterrent”. This is what I was told by the area manager on the matter when I told him I will be perusing action. Also that the barriers “aren’t used to keep people out” “ anyone could still get in or around them”. My argument is that if the gates were working properly the vehicle wouldn’t have been able to gain access. Even if they just walked around them they physically would not of been able to carry the kit to their vehicle outside of the property without being caught or arousing a lot of suspicion. Therefore may have been able to avoid this situation all together.

In my opinion this is failure to secure there car park and allowing a person and vehicle to gain entry to the site without being challenged resulting in the events of 19/11/2024. They also failed to provide proper cctv coverage of the event as the cameras they have up “do not work”

If you have ever been to a @DavidLloydUK facility you would know that when you sign up to be a member you are issued with a card that allows you to gain access to the site at the gates of the car park and then again to access the gym. On this day and days prior these barriers for the car park were said to be not working and had failed to be fixed.

Subsequently resulting in my tools being stolen and leaving me with pretty much nothing to carry out my work within my business. I am a self-employed tradesman who relies on this equipment to earn money. I believe @DavidLloydUK was at fault and have evidence to suggest so.
