It is ignorance, and it continues to be exploited. Some Zimbabweans support Israel because of ZANUPF’s ties with the mullahs in Iran, without understanding the full picture. They do not realise that the water cannons used against them during protests have been supplied by Israeli companies with links to the state. They do not know that Pegasus spyware, used by their government for electronic surveillance, was developed by an Israeli firm with state connections. They are also unaware that Nikuv, a company linked to Zimbabwe’s electoral processes and the manipulation of identity records, has been associated with Israeli intelligence networks. They may not even know that Ari Ben-Menashe, who was involved in the operation that entrapped Morgan Tsvangirai, is a former Israeli intelligence operative. It is a lack of information and critical inquiry. It is ignorance, my brother, and it continues to shape how people interpret complex geopolitical realities.
