The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms a shootout incident with armed robbery suspects in Gweru tonight, resulting in the deaths of two robbers. The ZRP will release detailed information on 20th March 2026. #NoToArmedRobbery.

On 18/03/26, Police in Chegutu intercepted a truck at the 114 kilometre peg along Harare-Bulawayo Road and arrested a foreign national, Mkendwa Kibwana Hassani (33) for unlawful possession of dagga. Subsequently, twelve bales of dagga weighing 130 kilogrammes, were recovered. The dagga has a street value of USD 13 000.00. Meanwhile, on 19/03/26, Police in Beitbridge arrested Ndandatho Manyewu (48) at New Bridge along Limpopo River and recovered 20 cobs of dagga weighing 17 kilogrammes. The dagga was stashed in washing powder cardboard boxes. #notodrugandsubstanceabuse.

The ZRP has noted with concern false information circulating on social media on tourists’ vehicles movement and the use of roof top tents or roof racks. The ZRP makes it categorically clear that no tourists’ vehicles are being impounded in Zimbabwe for using rooftop tents or roof racks. The false information is dismissed with contempt it deserves. The ZRP Women Network hosted a Health Wellness day at the ZRP Golf Club this morning. The event was graced by athletes and Zimbabweans from all walks of life. Fitness is part of policing in the fight against the malady of crime.

The ZRP confirms the arrest of Raphael Nyamuchenga (41) in connection with a case of theft of copper cables. The suspect, who was in the company of an accomplice who is still at large, was apprehended while digging up TelOne copper cables at Acturus Mine Low-Density suburb on 12/03/26. Police recovered a 12-metre TelOne copper cable, a pick and a shovel from the suspect. #notocrime

On 12/03/26, Police in Guyu acted on received information and arrested Nuni Ngulube for cultivation of dagga at a farm at Village 6, Kafusi, Guyu. Detectives uprooted 102 plants of dagga , which were planted within a maize field. The plants had an approximate height range of 1 to 2 metres. #NoToDangerousDrugs

The ZRP confirms the arrest of Wisdom Munyonga (37) and Tendai Gwainda (38) for unlawful possession of unregistered medicines. The suspects, who were travelling in a Volvo FH truck, were intercepted at the Beitbridge Border Post on 12/03/26 at around 0330 hours. Police searched the vehicle and recovered 13 boxes (50 x 100ml) of Broncleer Cough Syrup, 40 boxes (48 x 100ml) of Benylin Cough Syrup and 44 boxes (48 x 100ml) of Astra Pain Cough Syrup which had been concealed under the trailer’s chassis. On the same date, police acted on a tip-off and arrested Mtonga Fumu (44) and Dereck Lonje (43) for unlawful possession of unregistered medicines. The suspects were travelling in a Toyota Hilux vehicle towing a trailer carrying five coffins containing dead bodies and various groceries. Upon searching the vehicle, police recovered 26 boxes (48 x 100ml) of Benylin Cough Syrup, three boxes (48 x 100ml) of Astra Pain Cough Syrup and two boxes (50 x 100ml) of Bronclear Cough Syrup which had been concealed in the coffins. #NoToDrugAndSubstanceAbuse

On 10/03/26, Police in Nembudziya acted on received information and arrested Norman Katikarengwa (36) and Givemore Chitivha (40) in connection with a case of stock theft which occurred at Mashoko Village in Hongororo area. The suspects were apprehended while attempting to sell two cattle, a brown ox and a brown cow. Police investigations revealed that the suspects had stolen the cattle from Chizarira Game Park. The police has since recovered the stolen cattle. #notocrime .

The Zimbabwe Republic Police has busted a drug peddling syndicate comprising 11 suspects, including both men and women, who were arrested while allegedly trafficking approximately 200 kilogrammes of dagga and other illicit substances. The suspects were intercepted while travelling from Beitbridge, with the contraband cleverly packaged in a manner meant to resemble blankets in order to evade detection. During the operation, police also confiscated unregistered medicines found in the suspects’ possession. The Zimbabwe Republic Police reiterates that there is no going back in the fight against drug trafficking and substance abuse, and warns that all individuals involved in the illegal production, transportation and distribution of drugs will be arrested and brought before the courts.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms that Daniel Munyanyi who is currently facing murder charges for killing two police officers recently has been convicted and sentenced to 77 years imprisonment for 6 counts of robbery, 1 attempted murder and 7 cases of unlawful entry and theft. The accused was also convicted last week on previous robbery charges and convicted to 72 years imprisonment. #notocrime

Reference is made to the ZRP press statement issued today titled “ZRP launches operation on plateless vehicles and vehicles fitted with illegal sirens and blue lights”. The ZRP reiterates that no vehicle with no registration plates will be allowed to pass through police checkpoints or road blocks. In the same vein, Police will take decisive action on anyone engaging in private escorts with vehicles fitted with illegal sirens or beacon lights. Zimbabweans are once again reminded that public or private escorts are the preserve of the country’s presidium only.
