I recommend for the @BlueJays @Raptors @MapleLeafs to lobby their league owners to relocate franchises due to Ontario 🎟️ resale ban. This email was sent this morning via @Ticketmaster….. @fordnation got it done and bad actors in Ontario are celebrating today. ⬇️⬇️⬇️ Ontario Ticket Resale Regulation Update: What It Means for Your Events We’re writing to inform you of a regulatory update in Ontario that will have immediate implications for ticket resale activity across the province. Background: Bill 97 and the Ticket Sales Act Bill 97 includes updates to the Ticket Sales Act of 2017, impacting your events. These changes directly impact how tickets can be resold within Ontario, establishing new face value pricing requirements in the secondary market. What’s Changing It is expected that as of April 23, 2026, all ticket resale activity in Ontario must comply with a price cap. Tickets can no longer be resold above the all-in price originally paid by the primary purchaser, including any fees — regardless of whether the event is already on sale and currently offering resale. This change applies immediately across all events occurring in the province. Ticketmaster’s Approach Ticketmaster Canada supports the Ontario government’s commitment to protecting fans. A core value of our business is complying with all laws and regulations in every market where we operate. To align with the new legislation, later today: Resale listings will be removed from the Ticketmaster website. Future resale listings that exceed the permitted price threshold will not be allowed. Fans with active resale listings will be contacted with instructions for next steps. What This Means for Your Events We are actively working to establish locally compliant resale solutions that reflect the nuances of different event types, ensuring continuity for both partners and fans while meeting regulatory requirements. Next Steps We remain committed to providing a compliant, fair, and secure ticket marketplace. Your rep will be reaching out in the coming days to discuss the path forward for your events, including how resale will be managed under the new framework. If you have any immediate questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Sincerely, Ticketmaster Canada
